SC/ST Committee

As per AICTE guidelines, a committee for SC and ST is hereby formed for prevention of atrocities against SC/ST students under the Act No. 33 of 1989, Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.


Aim & Objectives

The main aim of SC/ ST Cell is to prevent a wide range of offences against SC/ST students, staff and faculties in the campus. The goal of the cell would be to enhance the psychological wellbeing of SC/ ST students at VITS so that they can take full advantage of the educational opportunities at the college. The guidelines of AICTE will be adopted time to time.


Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinating and resolving the problems of SC/ST students facing in the campus.
  • Facilitate the personal and academic growth of SC/ST students by regular interactions.
  • Aware the SC/ST students about different schemes, fellowships, financial aid from Central and State governments as well as AICTE.
  • Inculcate the culture of self-motivation in SC/ST students to become entrepreneurs with innovative ideas.
  • Provide adequate coaching and training to SC/ST students for cracking the competitive examinations.

Duties of Liaison Officer:

The Liaison Officer, on behalf of the Cell, facilitates the overall welfare of the students, staff and faculty belonging to these communities as per the guidelines issued by AICTE.


ADVISORY COMMITTEE OF SC/ST CELL

The SC/ST Cell Advisory Committee ensures the prevention of atrocities against the SC/ST students and effective implementation of the policies and programs of the Government of India, AICTE and State Governments. It also suggests measures for achieving the objectives laid down by the various government agencies. The Committee functions under the Chairmanship of the Principal of institution.
The following advisory committee has been formed for SC/ST Cell in the college



Frequency of Meeting

According to the regulations framed by AICTE, the Committee meets at least two times in a year and the decisions arrived at are mandatory to be implemented. The Committee functions under the Chairmanship of the Principal /Director.
