Overview

Satna city Located in the northeastern reason of Madhya Pradesh state in central India. Satna is known Cement City for being one of the largest cement producing city in the world due to the plenty of limestone and dolomite deposits housed in the town. In addition to this, the city is also famous for housing various religious sites. The city served as the headquarters of the British political agent in the historic region of Baghelkhand.

Lord Shiva temple at Birsinghpur-semariya is a famous and old temple in the region, worth visiting. Madhavgarh fort about 7 km from Satna Railway station (Rewa Road) is another place to visit around Satna.

Chitrakoot

It holds great importance according to Hindu mythology and the epic Ramayana. Legends have it that Chitrakoot was the place where Lord Rama, his wife Sita and his brother Lakshmana stayed for eleven and half of their fourteen years of exile making it a revered site among pilgrims.
According to Ramayana, Chitrakoot was the place where Bharata, brother of Ram came to visit Ram and ask him to come back to Ayodhya and rule the kingdom. It is also believed that the principal gods of Hindus, (Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva) took incarnations here. This divine city is also known as the 'Hill of many wonders' and it totally justifies the name. Chitrakoot mountain range has numerous places of great religious importance like Bharat Milap Temple, Hanuman Dhara, Janki Kund and much more. It is indeed the gift of nature and the gods.

Maihar

Maihar city is known for the Maa Sharda devi temple(around of 502 A.D.), set at the highest of Trikoota hill that is around five kilometre from the railway station. There are 1063 steps to reach the top of the hill, currently ropeway facility is also available there.
Maihar is additionally known for the Indian Classical Music.Ustad Allauddin Khan founder of the Maihar-Senia gharana was from Maihar. He was awarded by the Padma Vibhushan, India's second highest civilian honour in 1971. His known students are: Sitarist Pandit Ravi Shankar , Ustad Ali Akbar Khan.


Bharhut Stupa Relief Sculptures

Bharhut is famous for the ruins of a Buddhist stupa (shrine) discovered there by Major General Alexander Cunningham in 1873. The stupa’s sculptural remains are now mainly preserved in the Indian Museum, Kolkata, and in the Municipal Museum of Allahabad.

The stupa was probably begun in the time of Ashoka (c. 250 BCE). It was originally built of brick, and it was enlarged during the 2nd century BCE, when a surrounding stone railing with entrances on the four cardinal points was constructed. This railing bears a wealth of fine relief carving on its inner face. About the beginning of the 1st century BCE, four stone gateways (toranas), each elaborately carved, were added to the entrances. An inscription on these gateways assigns the work to King Dhanabhuti during the rule of the Shungas (i.e., before 72 BCE). The sculptures adorning the shrine are among the earliest and finest examples of the developing style of Buddhist art in India.


Ramvan

Situated on the Rewa road, Ramvan is the abode of ancient remains of temples. One of the main temples is the Hanuman Mandir. Ramvan is for both the young and old. The lush greenery is inviting for kids, and the spiritual element puts one instantly at ease. The atmosphere is calming, and the well-maintained gardens and premises make it one of the most visited sites of Satna. The Tulsi Museum at Ramvan is the sculptures from the ancient temples are preserved. They give a peak into the artistry and devotion of the earlier generations.

Maharaja Martand Singh Judeo White Tiger Safari and Zoo is located in Mukundpur of Satna district of Rewa division.The main attraction at the zoo is the White Tiger Safari in which people get the chance to see the revered White Tigers. Along with the White Tiger the zoo also houses 40 different endangered species and 60 plus species of non endangered species within its premises.


Khajuraho

Khajuraho is an ancient city known for its magnificent temples ( Mandir ) and intricate sculptures. The Khajuraho city is located in the Chattarpur district of Madhya Pradesh and holds spellbinding historical tales and architectural grandeurs. As per the historical archives, the Khajuraho temple site had 85 temples during the 12th century spread over 20 square kilometres. Among these, only 25 temples have survived the course of time, spread over six square kilometres.

The UNESCO site of 'Khajuraho Group of Monuments' is famous for its Nagara-Style architecture and graceful sculptures of nayikas (Hindu Mythological female protagonists) and deities. The splendour of the intricate statues is one of the reasons that makes it a popular site to visit among tourists. Built between 950-1050 AD by the Chandela Dynasty, these temples represent various forms of meditation, spiritual teachings and relationships through stimulating art. The temples are famous for their craftsmanship that consist of splendid demonstrations of fine sculptures and exceptional architectural skill, making them one of the most stunning UNESCO World Heritage Sites in India.
